This dream is rooting deeper
like the feet of a tall Walnut
diving, twisting
and drinking in the essentials
to survive
to thrive
to come alive
A dream of leaves
of critters and streams
of rich soil
and a thick forest
A cabin stands humbly
built from the body of a pine tree
who sacrificed its view
to shelter an old woman
Tucked away in the mountains
after miles and miles of open land
ranches and cattle
Aspens and yellow grass
blowing in the wind
A fire burns for warmth
water boils for tea
A dog rests at the foot
of frozen feet bundled up
under the comfort
of her best friend
The swiftness of the wind
bringing memories
taking love to send
chasing the sky
The softness of lush moss
ferns undisturbed
A timeless walk to a break in the trees
peaks upon peaks
the mountain
under my feet
